I really want my friends and their friends to really give a thought on the open cattle grazing or indeed cattle rearing. Cattle breeding is in the business of farming, and using the cattle by the herdsmen to destroy other farms and farm product is illegal and deserves to be prosecuted in the court of law. However, the federal government using the public money to establish cattle colony is absolutely a discrimination against other farmers. What is the government’s argument in favouring one sector of farming against the others, and using the cattle to destroy other farm products is criminal act, punishable by the law of the land. Therefore, how then that the federal government is using their powers to create cattle colonies in the southern zone of Nigeria when the southerners have their own farming system and farm products that are supposed to be protected by the same government. What is happening in Nigeria has never happened anywhere in the world and the mention of cattle colony is unheard of and alien to any developed mind. Nigerians, are we really thinking straight? I commend the Benue State government for making a bold stand on the cattle colony. Are other southern states thinking? This federal government is a danger to Nigerians. All southern states of Nigeria must stand up now and make similar declaration that cattle colony is illegal, destructive and a danger to the lives and properties of the peoples of Nigeria. Whosoever thought about this cattle colony is evil as Africans rejected western human colonies and now Nigerian government is forcefully replacing with an imposition of cattle colony. This is an insult to the peoples of Nigeria. Southerners must stand up now against this evil plan of cattle colony
