Nigerian government is a joke! Nigerians cry for intense hardship however, their governors are lavishing their state funds carelessly. The Governors are using the public fund entrusted to them as their private estate. I do not understand the reason why no one is talking. Does that mean that we are all cowed and harassed by the state governors? The people are frightened and the governors are so bold and daring any challenges! The military governments were not that authoritative, why does the law allowed the governors to be untouchable? The people are not talking and no one is challenging them, not even the security agencies! Dino Melaye claimed on national television that Nyesom Wike gave him 200,000 Dollars for his campaign; has Wike got the right as governor of River State to spend the people’s money as he pleases? Are there no guiding principles for the governors to abide in? We also learned some time ago that the same Nyesom Wike gave Sokoto State 50 million Naira of River State money, and one wonders, is the state funds the personal property of the governor?

However, I have said it times without numbers that the governors are more dangerous than the criminals that terrorise Nigeria. They are very arrogant, and very ignorant of their responsibilities. Does the constitution stipulate any responsibilities for the state governors? If the answer is yes, why is no authority intervening to call them to order? The governors were supposed to be administrators of their states instead they are now emperors, commanding and controlling while the system of governance was supposed to be democratic. Does any Nigerian governor knows what governance is? They are nothing but the chief executive of their state, with cabinet and agreed budget to work on behalf of the people. They are supposed to be answerable to the people. What nonsense is going on in Nigeria? I don’t know why the people are not rising up against their governors, demanding accountability. I do not know the reason why the police, EFCC and the DSS are not prosecuting these governors, past and present! I am really bothered about the silence. Nigeria is on her knees, poverty everywhere and I learnt that some of them like Nyesom Wike have private jets. How long must this impunity allowed to go on? Have Nigerians lost their minds? Do you know the cost of managing these private jets? The purchasing price is peanut compared to the cost of maintenance. Why are we not rising up to speak out against these daylight robberies by the state governors? Are Nigerians dafts? Are Nigerians blind? Are Nigerians deaf? Why is the air covered with silence? If Nigerians do not challenge the excesses of the governors, we will all be consumed by anarchy. The corrupt practices of the governors have crossed the boundaries and cannot be allowed to go on. Nigeria supposed to have constitution; why is it not applicable to the state governors’ reckless spending of the public money? Is Nigerian constitution only relevant for the interpretation of electoral offences? The only time Nigerian constitution is mentioned is during electoral cycles. Wake up, Nigerian security agencies, you are the custodian of the law as contained in the constitution! You must do your work by stopping the criminality of these state governors.

However, Nyesom Wike is not alone in this daylight robbery by the governors. All the governors of all the Nigerian states are doing it. The worst is that of the old Eastern States ( the South East and South South); they are even using their state funds as “father Christmas” to appease Northern leaders. I was told by some beneficiaries that Imo State fund during Ohakim was ATM machine for the Northern elites! Ohakim recklessly spent the money of Imo State to seek relevance. The same goes to Rochas, Amaechi and others; why do we allow this to happen? Rochas and Amaechi spent their state money to finance APC Party. No one is raising their voice to challenge the impunity. The people are very poor and hungry but the governors are mismanaging the people’s resources. However, If the governors are working properly, managing the meager resources of the people, the president of Nigeria has no job internally to do. In the United Kingdom, the local authorities are competing against each other for growth and development through good governance. No one goes to the Prime Minister to complain. His job and that of the members of Parliament is to make laws and checkmate the excesses of all the arms of the government. The police watches with their Eagle eyes for any wrong doing. If Nigerian governors were to be in the UK, all of them would have been in prison, serving long term jail sentences. Just simply look at how the Mayor of London and his cabinet diligently manage the funds allocated to them. Just look at the increasing development of London. Just look at the benefits and the cynergy of the Millennium Dome, the Olympic Village and the Elizabeth line, to mention but a few.

However, following the excesses of the governors, the internal security agencies are Nigerians, they are civil servants for that matter; why are they not concerned? Nigeria is a joke! The governors are our greatest enemy; they are the thieves in government. All Nigerians talk about is the president but ignoring the excesses and the impunity of the governors. Nigerians must rise up, take back your state and demand for good governance and accountability from your governor. We are tired of the nonsense going on in all the departments of Nigerian government. We kill armed robbers, we arrest kidnappers and leaving the worst kidnappers of the state in the office as governors. The security agencies should please show concern of the excesses of the Nigerian governors, they are evil to Nigeria, to Africa and to the people!
