Democracy began in Igboland and spread to other parts of the world. It is copied by others. Forget about American or European democracy as they are all copied from Igbo culture! The culture of Igboland forbids domination, enthrones a man to be king in his own home. Traditionally decisions are taking collectively and that includes women (daughters and wives) and the youth! Igbo culture demands concensus however, the final decision is taken by the elders (Oha na Eze, including Okoro Oha as witness). If you really want to understand Igbo democracy, watch children under the age of 5 years old trying to resolve an issue; see how they appeal and appease one another to reach an agreement. Sometimes it involves sharing of sweets or toys to get consent. Igbo culture Commanded us to resist domination and bullying. An Igbo man culturally wants to die fighting than to die cowardly.
