Nigeria is just practicing “abuse of privilege”. Why should police get involved in matters like this? That is why the lawyers and the courts are there. Locking anyone up because of defamation is an abuse of privilege. Police has no business locking anyone up or evening detaining anyone. Defamation is not a criminal offence, police should direct the aggrieved to go to court. Nigerians are so primitive in their thinking and in their dealings with each other, including the police! Why are Nigerian police helping the privileged few to demonstrate intimidation and domination of the less privilege. The police has no right detaining people more than 48 hours; what is the reason for indefinite detention of people on civil matters? Has Nigeria police not got something important to do? All we read on the pages of newspapers and Social media is how one boy has detained one little boy who insults him; what is the police business on that? Nigerian police should look for something to do; they are helping the privileged to oppress, bully, humiliate and intimidate the less privileged. It is an abuse of power; stop it!
