Election for political office; do you know what that means? Today, in the UK, local council and by-election are taking place in all the four countries that make up Great Britain. Election is organised by local government with local government workers, not iNECK as in the case of Nigeria. The council officials are not loyal to any political parties; they are interested in the welfare and wellbeing of the people. There was no police, no army, no party agents, no ballot boxes snatchers, and most importantly, no noise! When could Nigeria ever be matured to hold free and fair election? Majority of Nigerians are backward hundred years behind any developing nations. 1960 election in Nigeria was far better organised than the 2023 election. Nigeria retrogresses instead of progresses, however, the political class in Nigeria would argue against that because their pockets are richer and Nigeria is poorer. Political parties have no plans, just copied manifesto that sees no light at the end of election cycle.

However, there was a strategic policy of Nigeria, titled Vision 2010 by Abacha, led by Ernest Shonekan and a selected few intelligent and educated Nigerians; that policy was one of the best policies ever designed by an African government. President Yaradua adjusted it to Vision 2020. What happened to both policies? Nigerian press is always talking nonsense, promoting political parties and individuals instead of promoting good governance. No one has Sat down strategically to discuss the future of Nigeria and her people; all concerns are focused on political parties and awarding inflated government contracts. Corruption is endemic in Nigeria, and without sane and matured minds coming to discuss the future of Nigeria in this new world order, Nigeria would be neither here nor there as all we talk about is Muslim Christian President, no meaningful discussions. Let me warn Nigerians, the present Presidential system of government in Nigeria would only lead to destruction. We must go back to regional government. We must go back to our regional strengths, and compete or partner strategically with others. That was what Britain had in mind when they put Nigerians together with regional autonomy. Regional autonomy is working in the United kingdom, and there is no reason why it would not work in Nigeria. However, l believe that the best option is divide Nigeria into four prosperous countries, working together in peace as UK is doing presently. Do you remember Sin Fern and the IRA? That era is gone now in the UK since the “Good Friday Agreement”. They are all living and working happily together.

Where do you see Nigeria in the repositioning and re-partitioning of the new world order presently taking place in the world? We are consumed by Muslim Muslim, and Christian Christian Presidential ticket, including Peter Obi and the Igbos must not rule Nigeria, instead of concentrating on issues that bring good governance.
