My heart is troubled regarding the present state of Igbo man. The Igbos prior to the civil war were looked upon, hence every man in Nigeria dreamt of having an Igbo woman as wife. They were strong, united and their culture was valued. The only culture all over the world that is enshrined with democracy. Culture without bullying and intimidation. Our fathers and great grand fathers were intelligent, hard-working and successful. White man tried to divide them with warrant chiefs but they did not succeed. This led to the first challenge to the authorities of the colonial master by our mothers and great grand mothers in 1929. The first organised women riot in Nigeria. The Igbos then spoke with one voice and had their Igbo Union as the central organisation. The Igbos prospered by merit, producing the first in everything and in every walks of life. Igbo man was respected as he believed in one-Nigeria, one-Africa and one-black race. White man respected them. Due to their quest for unity, Biafra was declared and the war was fought. Young men and women came to fight to defend their fatherland, though they knew that death is associated with war. The reason that the war lasted for thirty months was due to the part of the Igbo culture that commanded an Igbo man to defend himself with everything he has should he be chased or challenged in his home, and rightly so, the Igbos defended themselves in the face of deliberate quest by Hausa/Fulani led federal government to annihilate Igbo race. Evidence was when Murtala Muhammed commanded his soldiers to kill defenceless five hundred (500) men at Asaba.

In the end by 1970, it was declared “no victor no vanquish” by General Gowon and the world thought that it was genuine. Gowon himself thought it was genuine but unfortunately, it was not him who led the coup of July 1966. Was he a Yoruba man or other tribes he would have been removed, otherwise they did not allow Brigadier Ogundipe to return to his position. The coup was led by the then Lt Colonel Murtala Muhammed and others and the script was to reduce Igbo domination of Nigerian army, politics and commerce. The killing of innocent men and women was unbearable for Igbos, hence the war was declared. While the civil war was going on, Nigeria was restructured to favour the North against the East. Yoruba man was happy because he had taken the position vacated by the East. Since then, the systematic written and unwritten policies to suppress the Igbos begun which included the abandoned property next door, the exclusion of Igbos from relevant projects, the neglect of Igboland by federal government as the only presence of the federal government in Igboland is ill-equipped educational institutions. Igbos kept themselves busy with education and at the end, one has to go to the north or to the west for employment. Presently Igboland is littered with hundreds of thousands of graduates without job and no hope of employment for some time to come. Federal government presence is in abundance in the west and in the north, and the east, including the so-called south-south is without any job creating federal presence. The complaint was endless. Igbo youth had no option than to leave to wherever he or she can secure employment, hence some are in Libya, Kuwait, India and other places that our fore-fatherss could not have been dreamt of.

Now, the agitation for Biafra and people are complaining. Uwazuruike and his group tried it due to frustration of the youth by the government of Nigeria. Nnamdi Kanu tried it by forming IPOB, just to be the voice of the oppressed people of Igbo race. He was persecuted, imprisoned, bullied and descended upon by the might of Nigerian army in the name of Python Dance 2. Since then, he is missing. Nigeria is quiet since 14th September 2017. Before the Python Dance 2 everyone in Nigeria, gingered by Nnamdi Kanu’s stance for justice was talking about restructuring of Nigeria. Now fear grips everyone and silence covered the cloud of Nigeria. We are not many who are now talking about Kanu and Biafra. The talk for restructure is dead. Nigeria and Nigerians are happy, going into Christmas celebration without their son who came to liberate them by shunning every comfort of British life. Nnamdi Kanu did not return to Nigeria to seek wealth. He came to emancipate his people from a systematic slavery. The north and the west did not care because they have not experienced what the youth of the east and south-south have been going through. Two refineries in these regions (Warri and Portharcourt) could have generated thousands of employment for the youth, yet it was neglected and allowed to decay. In their place, there is a well equipped Kaduna refinery. If this is not a systematic destruction of life, please someone should educate me on this. When President Jonathan took over, there was fuel scarcity in the southern part of Nigeria however, Kaduna storage was filled to the brim. For the first time Nigerians asked questions as to why there was scarcity of fuel yet Kaduna had enough to cater for the need of the nation. Jonathan gave instruction for it to be distributed. If this is not a systematic oppression, someone should tell me otherwise.

The systematic oppression of the East of Nigeria goes on and on. Igbo culture forbids stealing. Due to lack of sources of income, Igbos are thieves, armed robbers, kidnappers, assasins and host of other vices. This they did to generate income, though it is forbidden. No federal government has tried to solve this problem. Eastern youth graduated and five years after, there is no job for them to go to. The Hausa/Fulani olygarchy selected few Igbos and others from the region, make them rich and used them against the wishes of their people. Look at the selected governors of the east and south-south, none has anything to write home about. Some members of Ohaneze are among this group. In the sight of the northern olygarchy they are toothless bulldog, barking in their region but timid in the north. All gangged up against Nnamdi Kanu to enable the federal government to suppress him. They were yapping about restructure of Nigeria while Nnamdi Kanu was still present. Now he is kidnapped or killed by the federal government army, their mouths are shut. Enemies of progress. Nigeria, Africa and the world must know that all Igbos and the majority of South-south are Biafran. They feel it, they act it. The way the issue of restructure was going while Nnamdi Kanu was around, it would have been a thing of the past by now. Now, we are back to square one. In my head and in the heads of all well-meaning Nigerians, African and tthe entire world, Nnamdi Kanu represents freedom and justice. Whosoever opposes Nnamdi Kanu is an agent of evil. Nnamdi Kanu was the mouth piece of the common man on the streets of Nigeria. Yes he maybe big-headed or maybe carried away by sudden popularity, but the language he was speaking was clear. He was against oppression and corruption. The corrupt politicians now have sign of relief that their only stumbling block has been removed. It is now back to business as usual, stealling and stealling of national treasury by politicians and those in government. Enjoy your Christmas now, and when the government sum up their deceitful courage to tell Nigeria about the whereabout of Nnamdi Kanu, if he is dead, another young man or woman stronger than Nnamdi Kanu would emerge. Nothing would stop the materialisation of Biafra as a nation. All those Igbos who connive with the federal to silence Nnamdi Kanu and to oppress the Igbo race will regret their actions. I ask again, where is Mazi Nnamdi Kanu? 2017 Christmas is not complete without him. He who has ear let him hear.
