Governor Emeka Ihedioha has won the appeal to his election victory and the citizens of Imo State are now congratulating him. However this is not the time for celebration. Governor Emeka Ihedioha should get to work as quickly as he can as there are a lot of things that need urgent attention. The first thing he must do is to reorientate the minds and thinking faculties of the people of Imo State and Igbos in general. We have all lost our dignity and respect due to greed and selfishness. The political leaders of Imo State lack knowledge and understanding and therefore grapple with the skills of leadership. The new age Imo political leaders in search of relevance, lost their dignity and respect and became sellable in the eyes of others.

Collectively, we have lost our bearing and need to be realigned to reality. We need leaders and repositioning, and our state governor is in a better position to do that. I wonder what the people of Imo State and indeed other Igbo States are celebrating for. There is no airport, no sea port, no roads. Our education is run down. What really are we celebrating for? Governor Ihedioha must know that an Igbo adage says that “onye huru agu, gba agu, makana agu enweghi okpo.” This means that whenever one sees a lion, he should shoot to kill that lion without wasting time because there is no specific path made for lions to follow. Kings and rulers are made by God and Emeka Ihedioha should ignore praise singers and do what is right to reposition Imo State and indeed, Igbo nation. Could he be the “Moses” we are looking for? Igboland has been devastated and those who present themselves at both national and local are pretty “sellable” people. Governor Emeka Ihedioha must ignore selfish praise singers and return Imo State to where Pa Mbakwe left. Governor Emeka Ihedioha must not be carried away; Igbos need to be re-united as we have wandered away since 1983 when the pre-independent politicians left the scene and their flock of sheep wandered in different directions. Igbos need a new Moses, and I will be happy if Governor Emeka Ihedioha fills that position.
