Nigerian Political and Community Leaders are not yet ready for the restructure of Nigeria. All talk and no trousers. Nothing concrete is being done by anybody to begin the process of restructuring. We have talked too much and the time to start is now. Leaders are needed now and the restructuring processes are easy and simple in this democratic government, though it was rigged but authenticated by supreme court. Restructuring of Nigeria MUST follow democratic processes as below:

(1) The leaders of the “willing” six political zones MUST begin the debate for “Restructuring” now to accommodate the voices and the concerns of all the regions.
(2) Majority of the six zones (4 zones) to agree on the structure and the system to enable the drafting of a common Bill to be ratified by State Assemblies of the “willing” states.
(3) Each State should instruct their State Assembly to pass the Bill of Restructuring of Nigeria (BoRN)
(4) All the “willing” State governments should conduct referendum in their states as it is within the governors powers.
(5) All States should mandate their National Assembly Representatives to table the Bill and support the motion for restructuring of Nigeria
(6) All States should mandate their Senators to support the Bill
(7) The last hurdle is the Presidential Assent. We know that President Buhari will not sign it. This is where the power of the people comes in. For 2023 election, only the party and the presidential candidates with the manifesto for “Restructure of Nigeria” would be voted in. The Presidential Assent would be done with the first six months of swearing in of the new president. Failure to do that, he or she MUST be impeached.

This is a democratic era of Nigeria, though nothing democratic is happening within it. The regional leaders of the six political zones of Nigeria must begin their meetings and negotiations to agree on the structure of the “New Nigeria” bill to be tabled to the state and national assemblies. Let us stop talking too much about the restructuring of Nigeria and start now to do something tangible. The time of talking is over; this is the doing time. Do you support the restructure of Nigeria?
