forty-three (43) years ago in 1979, Nigeria had politicians with integrity (Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Malam Aminu Kano and the eventual winner, Alhaji Shehu Shagari), and they amongst the best crops of African politics. What has happened to the president Nigerian politicians? The old politicians, including Prime Minister Tarawa Balewa, the Saduana of Sokoto, Dr Michael Okpara and Akintola were by far ahead of the present politicians. They were focused, enlightened and with a sense of purpose. They were far better than what we have now as politicians. However, this is the first time in forty-three (43) years that Nigerians have been offered an opportunity to choose between the good, the bad and the ugly! Up until 2023, it was the bad and the ugly only; a choice of two evils, none was better than the other hence Nigeria drifted into anarchy and a state of lawlessness. Nigerians and Africans should be grateful to Peter Obi for having the courage to decamp from the devil’s den of PDP and was not lured into the vulture’s claws of APC to provide Nigerians a choice of doing something right for the first time in 43yrs. We shall equally be grateful to the Labour Party for providing the platform for Peter Obi that enabled the reality of a third force.

However, Nigerians have risked everything to promote their candidates. Passion is running high for the first time that Nigerians witnessed something that looks like political campaign. The emergence of Peter Obi changed the narrative and Nigerians for the first time raised their voices that Nnamdi Kanu fought for. For the first time in 43yrs that Nigerians politically challenged the high and mighty and dared the consequences which was the obvious reason Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is in prison today. Kanu challenged the status quo, and almost get away with it but for the might of Nigeria in Africa. Anyway, Nigeria has not seen the last of Nnamdi Kanu emerging from the West and the North for a better Nigeria. Nnamdi Kanu should be given national award for leading Nigerians to speak out to defend their collective interests. I can see the youth of the North waking up to forming an alliance with the East. That day is fast approaching, and the political class is getting the vibration, and that would arrive Nigeria like a sunami; I wonder how that day shall be! Anyway, let us take it one step at a time.

However, twelve (12) days from now Africa would witness a political earthquake come February 25th 2023. Whoever wins the presidential election will not take Nigerians for granted anymore! Nigeria will never be the same again; forward ever backward never! The only thing remaining to be done today is to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from prison, and to allow Sunday Igboho to return to his family for reconciliation to begin Nigeria. The first job for the new president is to establish the rule of law, and to propose a date for the debate on restructuring of Nigerian political system. Anything short of it will ignite disobedience that Nigeria may not be able to handle. It does not matter who wins the presidential election come 25th February 2023, restructure of Nigeria is a must! May God help us.

Gradually and collectively Nigerians rose from the ashes of bad government to speak with one voice that Nigeria as it is today is not working and something needs to change. Now, let us start a new government, a new set of politicians on the platform of a new political party, Labour, led by Peter Obi. I wish Nigerians a new beginning, and let us hope that we get it right this time. We have all done all that we can, and now it is left to INEC to do the right thing. One thing is certain, Nigerians cannot tolerate any election rigging, manipulation and/or mismanagement! I hope the security agencies are called to order and to do their work diligently without any forms of intimidation, harassment or bullying. Any actions or inactions that gives advantage to any political party or candidate is totally not acceptable. Finally, we do not want the Supreme Court to choose the president for us; they should please stay away as Nigerians have had enough of their unbalanced judgements. Please let us choose the next president of Nigeria at polling boots. Can Nigeria get it right this time around? Time will tell! He who has ear let him hear.
