Two Wrongs can never make a right! The new mantra after any elections in Nigeria is the call to bury the hatchet and move on. Anything out of that is termed “causing trouble, and hate speech”, and that makes sane people to wonder and question the “mental capacity” of Nigerians. Has Nigeria legalised corruption and legitimised injustice as tools to manage the people? Why have Nigerians accepted illegality and injustice as the norm? That brings me to ask the question what is considered to be the “norm” in Nigeria?

However, are the Nigerian mentality and the norm in tandem with that of the world? What is the reason why Nigerians are not in line with the rest of the world? Before the emergence of 2015 peaceful change of government, there was a norm generally talked about as Nigerian character: I can do attitude, carefree attitude, enjoyment in the face of difficulty, tolerance and giving up in the name of providence however, all that has changed since 2015 after the emergence of President Mohammadu Buhari and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Before Nnamdi Kanu emergence there was Fela Anikulapo Kuti and his Republic. Both men were selfless, fighting for their people in different ways that annoyed the authorities and the powers that be. Fela had his own system and approach, and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has his own system with his IPOB. Both men were and are still challenging the system which the authorities and the powers that be feel that their Establishments and their powers have been challenged against the norm. For these reasons both men, Fela Anikulapo Kuti and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu were and still are persecuted for daring the authorities though they were or are still fighting for their people irrespective of their predicaments. However, the people were and still are ignorant though educated on paper! One wonders why?

However, it is noteworthy that they awaken the consciousness of their people though not glaringly pronounced, nevertheless it is making positive impact hence the emergence of APC as a party and IPOB as a movement however, the later on gaining power was distracted by the spoils of power; gaging the vulnerability of the people, used poverty and intimidation to manage and control the people. The former, Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB gained momentum as they understand the yearning of their people for emancipation hence they are woken to imagine how that day of emancipation shall be hence the emergence of the Obidients, the awoken, concerned peoples of Nigeria!

However, now entered the Obidients! The whole world is watching; Nigerians within and without have sensed the light at the end of the tunnel and are imagining and imaging a Nigeria with justice and equity; a Nigeria where individuals can question the authorities. It is no longer left for Fela or Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to speak for them. Many people are now speaking out hence the authorities are wondering what is going on. Nigerians are now questioning the norm. By the way, what is the norm in Nigeria before 2023? The government and the leaders were selected by the powers that be. It has been a century long, outdated practice and the people can no longer accept it. People demand for a change to the system to elect rather than select ttheir representative if it the peoples’ government! However, education is power though the sizeable majority of Nigerians are still not educated though they possess their paper qualifications at various levels of academic echelon. One of the benefits of Education is that it gives you confidence to become bold and confident. Whence you have education you have the power hence there is power tussle between the Obidients with various professional qualifications and the powers that be with money-bags! This is the beginning of “awakening” in Nigeria. Thanks to all educators, including Social media though majority are in it for money.

However, let us not be carried away! Biblically Jesus said “forgive them for they do not know what they are doing” hence there should be distinction between Obidients and the Labour Party. Obidients may not be politicians, some are apoliltical; they are the “concerned” Nigerians, home and abroad! Now entered the new mantra “let us move on and join hands to rebuild Nigeria”. This is the post 2023 election slogan that is propagated by the old Nigerian Establishments that thrive on corruption. Their livelihood depends on illegality, injustice, nepotism, sectionalism, greed and selfishness. All these lead to ineptitude hence the backwardness of Nigeria. Obidients are saying “NO” to corruption hence they funded the awareness of Obidients, separate from the Labour Party. One thing is certain, Obidients is the new norm in Nigeria that will certainly spread to other African nations and black man in general. However, we must know that in education, there are varying speed of learning; some are slower in assimilation than the others however, that does not mean that they should be left behind! We are all Obidients and we are all waking up to the reality of good governance. Nigeria will never be the same again! This is our hope for the future.

However, what does that mean about “Nigeria would not be the same again”? It is beginning to dawn on Nigerians that there is a difference between selection and election of government and other arms of the government. The difference is “merit” and it the realisation of the peoples’ intention. Many Nigerians have travelled out and are now exposed. They know what good governance is, they have enjoyed it, and they want their people to equally enjoy it. Obidients speak with one voice, not for Labour Party though very grateful to Labour Party for providing the platform but for their beloved people in Nigeria. They want their people to be liberated; to be free from mental and political slavery. They want their people to enjoy freedom. Human rights is godly, it is human and it is desired by all. Nigerians cannot move on if their rights are taken away from them hence there is the clamour for INEC and the judiciary to return the presidential mandate of the people. We want the system to work for us! The system that brought in the president-select 2023 is faulty and needs to be corrected today, and not tomorrow hence there is an air of uncompromising attitude. Nigerians are saying that two wrongs cannot make a right! The 2023 presidential election was glaringly rigged with impunity. We can no longer accept the old norm. Obidients is the new normal, like it or hate it, and that is the current issue that is trending in Nigeria and indeed, Africa as all are watching! You cannot steal another man’s presidential mandate and ask the man and his followers to move one, impossible! Nigerians want to kill corruption, not the peole. Fela protested and the government burnt his house, injured the mother and imprisoned him. Nnamdi Kanu protested with his IPOB, the government beat him, tried to kill him, injured the parents and they died out of their trauma. Fela’s mother also died out of the trauma. The powers that be have mismanaged Nigeria for so long, and their grip on power has been exposed and they are losing it hence they resort to all manner of illegality and injustice to enthrone one of theirs. We will not accept it; our human rights must be respected!
